Thailand!!

We are here in a little internet cafe in Chaing Mai, Thailand!!! We have had such amazing adventures the past week and feel so blessed! We leave for India tomorrow. We don't have a card reader to upload our own pictures so I stole some off the internet so you get a little taste of what we have been up to. It has been a dream and we are so happy and safe and sound.

After 40 hours of traveling (seriously) we spent 2 days at an incredible, stunningly gorgeous tropical paradise called Railay beach. We took two long boats to get there. It is super secluded and remote and this picture doesn't do it a smidgen of justice. We climbed around in the mountains, explored the jungle, relaxed on the beach and watched the sunset, ate awesome food in little bungalows in the trees, slept in a moldy room with two beds pushed together, made a good friend from Germany/Australia, kayaked out by the big rock formations jutting out of the sea, etc. You know, like you do.

Then we flew up to Chaing Mai and in the last three days we have had so many adventures including riding motorcyle scooters up the mountain to the Wat Doi Suthep, eating at a HUGE buffet surrounded in Thai people, riding elephants and trekking in the jungle, floating down the river on a bamboo raft, eating AMAZING FOOD, and soaking in bustling markets (or stopping for a bit to get a foot massage for 2 dollars). We love it here. Pure magic.

Here's the market we just spent 5 hours at trying all kinds of food and buying pretty, cheap things. (below)

We love and miss you all back home. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. We are so excited to get to India and start working with Rising Star. We are so blessed. Life is beautiful!!!

A Huge Success

Our dinner/concert on Thursday was a stellar event and a very successful fundraiser. We were overwhelmed with the support and generosity of everyone who attended. We will do everything in our power to make sure the contributions we received will go to excellent use in helping the people Rising Star serves.

We had about 150 people come to enjoy yummy Indian food from India Palace and awesome performers including Some Fellow Folksters, Sabrina Squires and Austin Cameron dancing, and Kara Henderson. Our spectacular un-rehearsed emcee Sean Strebel kept us all entertained through technical difficulties until the very end when the raffle winners were announced. We were all warmed by the glowing ambiance and good feelings of brotherly love and humanitarian support. (wow, that's really cheesy what I just wrote - but it's true!)

With the sale of tickets, desserts, handmade flower pins and raffle tickets, we made hundreds of dollars to benefit the leprosy affected of India. We were absolutely ecstatic with the results. Thank you so much to everyone who participated in the magical evening.

We leave for Asia in one week and we are so excited. We'll keep you updated!
